Join the Week of Action Against Oil Trains – July 6-13
It's been almost a year since the residents of Lac-Mégantic, Quebec were awakened in the middle of the night when an out of control oil train crashed through their downtown and exploded -- a disaster that claimed 47 lives in this unsuspecting community.
Since that tragic event, there have been a record-breaking number of oil train derailments, spills and explosions on both sides of the border. It's so bad that the U.S. Department of Transportation has called oil trains an "imminent threat" to the public.
On July 6, citizens of Lac-Mégantic will gather for the solemn one-year anniversary of the tragic oil train derailment that shattered their community, and between July 6 and July 13, communities across North America will hold their own vigils, marches and other events to oppose dangerous oil trains and make sure their communities aren't next.
Stand up to protect your community from deadly oil trains. Sign up to attend an event near you during the Week of Action Against Oil Trains, July 6-13, or if there isn't one near you yet, sign up to host one!
