Fight for Missouri

Awesome! So glad you want to join us in this fight for clean air and water and a healthy future in Missouri.

In Aug of 2012, Ameren Missouri announced a proposal for new coal ash landfills on top of its existing coal ash waste ponds, at their Meramec coal plant, despite serious issues at the current waste ponds and the lack of ground water monitoring or appropriate oversight by Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

We are currently organizing throughout the greater St Louis area, to stop these dirty proposals and to call upon the Missouri Department of Natural Resources to protect us from these already polluted waters.

We need you to join our fight.  To get more involved please contact Sara or see our current opportunities below:

Level 1: Help us collect petitions.  We are collecting petitions to our local county council members and urging them to join with us in protecting the health and wellbeing of our communities. Pass around at work, with your friends or in your neighborhood.

Level 2:  Write a Letter to the Editor.  Get this issue out in the media and help inform others why we need to move away from dirty coal.

Level 3: Host a house party!  Have a little fun and save the world at the same time! Invite your friends and neighbors, enjoy some refreshments, and host a Beyond Coal house party.  Share the Beyond Coal presentation and ask your guests to commit to join the movement.  Contact Sara for more details.

Level 4: Enlist Support from Community Leaders.  We are looking for community leaders like doctors, nurses, pastors, business owners and others to join with us in protecting the health and wellbeing of our communities.  Please ask the folks in your networks to sign our letter of support and join the alliance for healthy energy!

Level 5:  Educate Others.  You can help us educate others on this issue.  Host a presentation at your church, school, book club, or neighborhood association meeting.  There are so many chances to inform and engage others and help us start a movement in Missouri.
