For the economy. For the environment. For America.
At the end of 2013, the Production Tax Credit (PTC), an important financing provision for wind energy, expired due to Congressional inaction. The wind industry supports more than 80,700 American-made jobs around the country today, and the renewal of the PTC would continue to protect these jobs and the families they support.
We’ve renewed the PTC before; let’s do it again: In 2012, with the support of thousands of Sierra Club members and supporters, Congress voted to extend the PTC. That means thousands of good paying American jobs were spared from the chopping block and cleaner air was achieved for all Americans.
In 2012, the Wind Works campaign launched TV and online ads that targeted members of Congress to pass the PTC, including Rep. Farenthold of Texas, Rep. Latta of Ohio, Rep. Shuster and Rep. Barletta of Pennsylvania, Rep. Heck of Nevada, and Rep. Guinta of New Hampshire.
The Wind Works campaign launched billboards in the Washington, DC metro station on Capitol Hill, shown right, urging all members of Congress to take action to extend the PTC.
The campaign also launched billboards in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Minnesota, calling on targeted members of Congress to pass the PTC and protect 37,000 American wind jobs.
We’re ready to do it again.
Take Action For A Cleaner Tomorrow
The passage of the PTC was a huge victory for our economy and our environment, but our work for cleaner communities isn't finished yet.
