This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act, one of our country’s greatest tools for protecting America’s wild places. To celebrate, Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune and family are hitting the road to experience some of America’s most scenic wild places first hand. Starting from their home in California, Mike, his wife Mary, and their three kids will spend a week hiking and camping as they wind their way through the Pacific Northwest. Along the way they’ll enjoy beautiful wild places, thanks to the enduring legacy of the Wilderness Act, and also get a glimpse of the ongoing need for continued work to permanently protect many of our country’s remaining special places in the face of growing threats.
