WASHINGTON, DC—Members of Congress will hold a press teleconference Thursday, December 5 at 10:30 a.m. EST to reiterate what must be included in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal. The Congressional warning comes as the U.S. Trade Representative and trade ministers from 11 other Pacific Rim nations head to a high-level meeting in Singapore on Dec. 7 where they hope to resolve a list of issues that have caused the pact to miss past deadlines for completion.
Members of Congress have long raised concerns about some of these issues, including enforceable environmental and labor standards, access to medicines, and disciplines against currency manipulation. On the call, Members of Congress will focus on several of these issues that must be included in the TPP.
