John Plander.

John Plander was introduced to Sierra Club National Outings on a Sierra backpack in 1995. Leading trips for the club since 1999, he has also served on the Medical Advisory Committee and helps teach a Wilderness Basics Course annually. Mountaineering, snowboarding, and sailing are passions that have taken him all over the world. John frequently leads outings in the Sierra Nevada and the Grand Canyon, but he continues to explore new destinations further from home. He previously worked as a physician, chemist, and educator, but his commitment to outdoor pursuits led to early retirement. He currently resides in San Diego with his partner and two terriers.
