Raised in Istanbul, Ates Temeltas has been living in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1980. A Sierra Club member since 1996, he has enjoyed hiking and backpacking in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Colorado. As an avid hiker, Ates is always looking forward to his next outdoor trip. He enjoys sharing his enthusiasm for the outdoors and the importance of protecting our wilderness areas. Ates is certified in Wilderness First Aid and CPR. He is currently working as a Health Care Information Technology Assistant Director and is the founder of an independent music label. In addition to backpacking, Ates loves traveling, world music, reading, photography and cooking. He lives with his wife in Walnut Creek.
