Bill Gifford (aka Lothrandir) has been leading Sierra Club backpack, lodge and llama trips in the Northwest since 1976, including trips to Mount Hood, Mount Rainier, Eagle Cap, Hells Canyon, the North Cascades, Sky Lakes, Glacier Peak and the Three Sisters. He is currently co-chair of the Northwest subcommittee of the Outings Program and a member of the Training Committee. Bill is a member of a leader family, often leading with his wife, son or niece. He is a third-generation owner of a four-generation family florist business in Portland, Oregon. Trees and wildflowers are his particular area of interest, which he enjoys sharing with other hikers. Other interests include mentoring new leaders, trail work and all things Tolkien.
