Dave Garcia

Dave Garcia, Ph.D., enjoyed a fruitful career as a high school biology teacher. His continuing goal has been to learn as much about nature as he can and share that knowledge. He has also worked as a botanist for the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management. In one of the best summers of his life he was an Interpretive Ranger for the National Park Service in the Western Arctic National Parklands.

Dave is a backcountry skier, hiker, backpacker, cyclist, kayaker, gardener, general outdoor enthusiast, and playmate to his grandchildren. He is experienced and skillful in working with groups of all ages. He has been leading groups to special natural areas for decades. A member of the Sierra Club since the 1970s he is just starting to lead Sierra Club Outings.

Dr. Garcia grew up in the Mission District of San Francisco and moved to Oregon in 1974. He currently lives in the Rogue River Valley.
