Eric Orr grew up on an acreage at the doorstep of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, and the opportunities present throughout have proved impossible for him to resist. Though a newcomer to the Sierra Club, he has long been a student of the natural world. He has tried everything from whitewater rafting to spelunking and loved every minute, but his true love is backpacking. It is his firmly held opinion that somewhere between the communal campfires, the millionfold stars, and the mile you didn't think you had left, is the closest thing to nirvana this side of the Hilamayas. Eric hopes to further his addiction to altitude by taking a formal mountaineering course someday soon…that is if he doesn't spend all his money on gear and park fees first.
