Hal Busch learned to love the outdoors as a youth with many camping trips. As a businessman he lived and traveled throughout Australia and Southeast Asia and witnessed the affects of environmental degradation. Since then, and closer to home in Oregon, he co-founded a grass-roots environmental education group, became one of the first Americans trained on “The Natural Step," and has served on numerous civic and volunteer bodies, including an urban watershed council. He has enjoyed returning to Hawaii for over 20 years.
