Howard Kellogg

Howard Kellogg

Howard Kellogg’s first outdoor memory is of huddling with his father in the pre-dawn chill of a duck blind. Since then, the outdoors has been a natural playground from the deserts of southern California to the mountains and the rivers of the Rockies, the Sierra, and Alaska. After a career teaching high school science, much of it to Spanish speakers, Howard retired to the mountains of Colorado, volunteering with the Forest Service to maintain trails and welcome hikers in the backcountry. Howard is asking questions about the outdoor experience of persons of color, and found journalist Edward James Mills “The Adventure Gap” http://jamesedwardmills.com/ doing the same and providing some answers. Howard welcomes all to experience the outdoors.
