Jake Jaramillo has led Sierra Club Outings since 2009. He loves exploring the many varieties of terrain, culture, habitat, and history to be found around the world. He also leads Sierra Club wilderness backpacking trips in California and in the desert Southwest. Whether leading trips at home or abroad, Jake finds that Sierra Club participants share a high sense of adventure and curiosity that promotes fun and learning. When not travelling, Jake serves Sierra Club Outings in a variety of other volunteer capacities. He and his wife Cathy also enjoy exploring their adopted hometown of Seattle. Together, they recently authored an urban hiking book called “Seattle Stairway Walks: An Up-and-Down Guide to City Neighborhoods" (Mountaineers Books).
