Jan Torrey traveled on a Sierra Club trip to Provence in 1999 for her first group trip. It was such wonderful experience that she decided to become involved with leadership, first in the Hawaii subcommittee and more recently with the International subcommittee. She has cooked, led or co-led a trip every year since then, with a brief hiatus during the pandemic. Jan is a retired school librarian who enjoys using her research skills to plan and conduct trips. She lives in North Carolina and enjoys travel, cooking, reading and hiking with her husband Richard and dog Webber.
