Kath Giel has been leading trips for the Sierra Club since 2001. She went on her first Sierra Club trip at age 16. An avid backpacker, mountaineer and traveler, Kath has been to over 100 countries, exploring and experiencing wild places and different cultures. She loves the outdoors and has a passion for introducing others to the wonders of nature, fascinating cultures, endangered wildlife, and exotic locations. Before retirement, Kath worked in executive positions in the marketing and business development arenas. When not leading Sierra Club trips, Kath can be found hiking, biking, birding, and backpacking from her home base in Reno, Nevada.
