Michael Garr has been a National Outings leader since his first trip to Isle Royale NP in 2001. He led ten service trips to the Island before retiring and moving to Texas in late 2007. Other destinations that Mike has led service trips to include Canyonlands and Arches in Utah, and the Red River Gorge in Kentucky. After his arrival in his adopted state of Texas, he has led or assisted on trips to the Guadalupe Mountains, Davis Mountains and his favorite, Big Bend NP. He also works as a Volunteer in the Park at Big Bend for the months of February and October. Prior to his retirement, Michael was a career, 30-year firefighter/paramedic in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
