Patrick Tierney Ph.D. has been a licensed adventure guide for 40 plus years and lead safaris, rafting, kayaking and sailing trips throughout the west, Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, Galapagos Islands, Costa Rica, Belize, and Africa. He received a national Sierra Club Outings “Top Leader” award. Pat and his wife operated their own adventure travel company for 25 years. Pat has been an activist for protecting wild places, has conducted conservation multimedia presentations through the west, and has testified before a US Senate Committee about protecting wild areas. He is a retired professor of recreation, parks and tourism at San Francisco State University, and author of an award-winning book.
