Bill Baurecht has been a member of the Sierra Club for many years and has led and participated in national lodge, service, base camp, grandparents/grandkids, and family outings. He has camped and hiked for most of his adult life. A professional volunteer national outings leader, Bill looks forward to sharing his love of mountain hiking and knowledge of the American West, and on service trips his knowledge of Civil War poetry and history. He hopes outing participants will share his support of the preservation of America’s natural and cultural legacies from loss to forces of self-interest. He and his wife Helen Bannan-Baurecht working as co-leaders have received Outstanding Leadership awards for leading California Nevada (2019) and Southeast outings (2019 and 2021).
