Steve Welter

Steve Welter discovered his passion for geography through visits to the beaches, deserts, and mountains of his home state, California. He now calls Colorado home, where he enjoys teaching geography courses on climate, vegetation, landforms, and mountain environments at the University of Colorado. His interests have led him to the Canadian Arctic, Iceland, the Alps, the Brazilian Amazon, the Scottish Highlands, and mountains across the American West. Steve has led Sierra Club outings since 2002 and is certified in Wilderness First Aid. He likes tending his organic garden, keeping bees, drinking dark roast coffee, reading maps, and exploring new trails. Steve is keen on sharing his enthusiasm for land and life on upcoming international trips.
