Gary Kanterman lives in the foothills of California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains and performs regular service work as a National Forest Service volunteer in a number of surrounding wilderness areas (primarily the John Muir Wilderness). Gary has hiked/backpacked extensively throughout the continental U.S., Alaska, and Canadian Rockies and has led numerous recreational and service trips as both a volunteer and a professional. Gary focuses on running trips in wilderness areas to get a respite from modern technology and mass media. He also greatly enjoys the camaraderie and sense of giving back garnered from service trips.
