Jane Uptegrove grew up hiking and backpacking in the northeastern US with her family, scout troop, summer camp, and schools. As an adult, she took her own family hiking and backpacking. A geologist by profession, Jane has interpreted and mapped geology in Colorado and New Jersey. She joined a Sierra Club backpack trip for the first time in 2003 and has been on a number of Sierra Nevada-based backpack trips and a Sierra Club trip to Kilimanjaro since then. Jane holds both CPR and Wilderness First Responder certification. She looks forward to this year’s adventure exploring the spectacular backcountry (including hiking off-trail), cooking together, trading stories over dinner and along the trail, and relaxing by remote and beautiful lakes.
