Patrick Murphy grew up camping and hiking across northern Minnesota, and he canoed almost every navigable waterway in the northern two-thirds of Missouri. He’s climbed Mts. Kilimanjaro and Rainier and has backpacked in the Sierra, the Midwest, Southwest, and up and down the Rockies. A Sierra Club Life Member, Patrick has been a volunteer since the mid-1990s. He previously led outings in Utah and California, and he organized a successful campaign to introduce Sierra Club-backed wilderness legislation into the U.S. Senate and win bipartisan co-sponsorship for the bill. Patrick was elected to the national Board of Directors in 2020 and serves as Sierra Club's VP of Chapters, Groups & Volunteers. Outside of Sierra Club, he's busy as a climate and social impact consultant with some of the largest organizations in the U.S.
