After spending 22 years in the U.S. Navy, Mary Owens retired to her adopted home of Montana. A lifelong hiker, she looked for a way to share her love of the outdoors and desire to conserve wild places, and found it by becoming a national outings leader for the Sierra Club in 2007. A nurse practitioner, Mary continues to work part time, and lives in Lolo, Montana. Interests: Mary enjoys reading spy novels, and confesses to being a political junkie, a lover of craft beer, and fan of all things Star Trek.
